About BMSCE

BMS College of Engineering (BMSCE) is an autonomous institution affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). It was established as the first private initiative for engineering education in India and was started in 1946 by Bhusanayana Mukundadas Sreenivasaiah. It is run by the B.M.S. Educational Trust, and BMSCE holds a prominent place in the country’s educational history. The college is situated in the Silicon Valley of India Bangalore and offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programs across various specializations. The college campus spreads over roughly 11 acres and is renowned for its dedication to outcome-based education. BMSCE also boasts of excellent placement records, consistently securing top positions for its graduates in leading companies. The college also has one of the highest student populations among engineering colleges in Karnataka.

BMSCE Highlights

BMS was founded in 1946, is one of India’s prestigious institutions. Located in the heart of Bangalore, it is just 5 kilometers from the main railway station. The college is approved by AICTE and has earned an A++ Grade from NAAC. As an autonomous institute affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University, BMSCE is notable for being the first institute in Karnataka to receive accreditation in Tier I format by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). In 2024, it was ranked 69th among engineering colleges in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). Additionally BMSCE has signed MOUs with various global organizations which have led to the establishment of several Centres of Excellence, advanced laboratories, and incubation centers.

BMSCE offers an excellent placement opportunities, with over 240 top multi-national companies like Accenture , Adani Group , Ernst and Young ,Samsung India, KPMG and many more visiting the campus for interviews each year. On an average, around 1,400 students secure jobs annually. The average salary package for placed students is around 10 lakhs per annum, with the highest package reaching 92 lakhs per annum. Additionally, The college’s placement cell offers comprehensive training, preparing students to confidently tackle written tests, group discussions, and one-on-one personal interviews.

BMS College of Engineering – Eligibility Criteria

BMS College of Engineering offers 14 undergraduate and 16 postgraduate courses. The eligibility criteria vary depending on the course.

Below are the eligibility criteria for all the courses at BMS College of Engineering: Additonaly the students can also take admission through managment quota.

B.E

Candidate should secure a minimum of 46% aggregate marks in 10+2 with having subjects including Physics , Mathematics along with Chemistry/Biology/Bio-technology or equivalent examination . Additionally, they should have appeared for entrance tests such as UGET/KEA.

M.Tech

The Candidates must have passed B.E/B.Tech with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks for General Category and a 45% aggregate for SC/ST Category. Additionally the candidate should have a valid GATE Score or PGCET.

MCA (Direct & Lateral)

The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or Statistics or Computer Science or Computer Application or Programming or Business Mathematics or Statistics with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks and for SC/ST category, it is 45%. Additionally He /She should have also appeared for anyone of the exams like PGCET or KMT.

Eligibility Criteria for B.E Courses

The minimum eligibility criteria to apply for B.E in BMS Institute of Technology and Management are:

Must have cleared the 12th standard or equivalent with a minimum of 60% marks in both Mathematics and Physics separately.
Must have appeared for KCET, COMEDK, JEE, or any other national level entrance exams for joining the professional courses.
Admission allocation is as follows: 45% of students through the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET), 25% through the management quota, and 30% through COMEDK.

BMS College of Engineering Admission

BMS college of engineering, affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University, is recognized as one of Bangalore’s premier engineering colleges. Eligible students can secure admission through BMS Institute of Technology’s direct admission process or management quota. Similar to other private colleges, the admission procedure at BMSIT depends on course-specific cutoffs. While the application and document submission processes are the same for both management quota and direct admission, the fees differ. The notification and application forms for BMSIT admission are typically released in June or July, with options to apply online or offline.

Admission Procedure for UG Courses

BMS college of Engineering offers 8 engineering courses. To apply for B.E. admission under the management quota, students must meet specific eligibility criteria and have appeared for common entrance exams such as KCET, COMEDK, or JEE. Seat allocation for B.E. courses is as follows: 46% of seats are reserved for the government quota, 30% for the private quota, and 25% for the management quota.

Admission Procedure for PG Courses

BMS college of Engineering(BMSCE) offers 2 M.Tech programs. Graduates seeking admission to the M.Tech programs under the management quota must have completed B.E/B.Tech with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks and must have appeared for the PGCET or GATE exam. For MCA admission at BMSCE, graduates need to meet specific eligibility criteria and must have cleared KMAT or PGCET.

The seat allocation for M.Tech and MCA courses is as follows: 20% of seats are reserved for the government quota, while the remaining 80% are filled under the management quota.
